ShowReminders - Version 1.1

We released version 1.1 of ShowReminders last week and I wanted to talk about the new functionality that we added.

Let me start with what ShowReminders doesShowReminders is an addin for Microsoft Outlook (2007/2010/2013) which brings the Outlook appointment window to the forefront when an appointment reminder is displayed. By default, if Outlook is in the background and an appointment reminder is displayed, the reminder window is not brought to the forefront - instead the reminder window flashes in the taskbar (The reminder window is hidden). This highlighting in the taskbar is easy to miss and you could miss out on your appointment/meeting reminders. ShowReminders fixes this problem by bringing the appointment reminder to the forefront (on top of all the other windows) like the previous versions of Outlook would.

The new functionality - Based on feedback from users, we upgraded ShowReminders to handle another workflow:
  1. User gets Outlook appointment/meeting reminder and the reminder window is minimized (Not dismissed or snoozed).
  2. After a while another appointment reminder is added to the reminder window.
  3. ShowReminders will bring the reminder window to the forefront in this situation without taking focus away from any other application you are working on.

Saving Zoom in Microsoft Outlook 2013

I recently tested out the zoom save functionality in Microsoft Outlook 2013, and it hasn't changed since Outlook 2010/2007. The zoom still does not save - you have to save the zoom everytime you open an email. This is true while reading an email in the reading pane  or in it's own window.

We updated ZoomIn to work with Outlook 2013. ZoomIn works with 32 and 64 bit versions of Outlook 2013 (Note: This refers to bit version of Outlook and not Windows 32bit or 64bit. You can read more about how tell which version of Outlook 2013 you are running in our blog.
