How to find out if you are running 32 bit or 64 bit versions of Microsoft Office 2013

Microsoft Office 2013 is the latest release of Microsoft Office suite, and ships in either 32 bit or 64 bit versions. It is important to note that the 32/64 bit versions of Office is different from Windows 8 32/64 bit versions. You can run 32 bit version of Office on 64 bit version of Windows.

The bit version of Office becomes an issue when you are trying to use 3rd party addins (such as SageLamp ZoomIn or ShowReminders). Most 3rd party vendors support only 32 bit versions of Microsoft Office (and even Microsoft recommends that you use only 32 bit version of Office). However, we support both 32 and 64 bit versions of Microsoft Office.

Here are the steps to determine which version of Microsoft Office 2013 you are running:
  • Go to the backstage view of your Microsoft Office product by clicking on the "File" tab:
  • Click on "Office Account" tab in the backstage view.

  • Click on the "About Product" button (In Outlook, the button will say "About Outlook", in Word, the button will say "About Word", etc).

  • This will launch the About window with the bit version listed on at the top (as highlighted in the image below)
